2024 Wisconsin Disc Golf Tour Report
Brad Wendt February 2025
The Innova Canopy broke a leg twice so it was retired. There was no canopy at a tour stop for more than half of the season. We did have the feather and regular Innova Banners. I asked for a replacement of Innova Canopy after the broken one was retired but Innova did not act on replacing it until Mike Cozzins got involved and two new ones were sent. It was a personal year of more travel than normal for my wife Karen and I, causing me to be away from WI for 8 weeks during the season. The new canopies were used at a couple - few stops including the Finale. I have no idea which tournaments a canopy was set up. But it was perhaps a handful. I salvaged 2 legs off the broken canopy that may come in handy for the next brake.
At least 1 tournament had to cancel 1 round because of lightning.
252 Black discs were awarded this year including 1 for each Td..
4 banners weaved their way around tour stops. I attended 10 stops and the Finale which I carried banners with me. I am not sure how many of the 10 stops I did not attend had calendar banners flying. All banners were accounted for at the end of the tour. Barrett White, Ben Peliotes, Aaron Delair, Don Hunkel were awarded calendar banners with their photo on them. I have 1 more with a crowd photo to give away or sell.
We did lose the Skyline Classic this year and did not gain any tour stops.
There were 76 total rounds played on 35 courses in 31 communities this season.
Throughout the 2024 season 22 divisions earned Black Trophy Discs because there were at least 3 players in the division. 16 divisions were awarded tour Championship status with at least 5 tournaments where the division earned a Black Trophy Disc. Beautiful plaques were made using the trophy disc art again this year. I have 2 of the beautiful plaques as I have not yet found addresses for either Junior. All but 10 divisional plaques were picked up at the Finale at Sandy Knoll. 8 plagues were sent by USPS.
The Finale went very well hosted by Josh Hamm. John Terlap ran the skins and division singles format as PDGA sanctioned. Riverside Park and Sandy Knoll Disc Golf Courses were used. Tour Trophy Plaques were awarded as well as the Special Finale Innova Halo Star Xcaliber Trophy Discs. The park was empty well before dark, a sign of a smooth on time event with no bad weather.
Pro payout was $3216, while am funny money was $5980
